djaywunti is a play on the initials- J 1 T: these initials stand for Jesus one time. One time in many Indigenous communities denotes completeness. In Scripture we read, “so Christ was offered as a sacrifice one time to take away the sins of many people...” (Hebrews 9:28 NCV).
djaywunti is supported by the Queensland Baptists to work across denominational and geographical boundaries, focussing on partnering to advance the Gospel in our Indigenous communities (remote, rural and urban). We have established an Indigenous Leadership Fundto gather gifts, grants and fund raising to meet the costs of leadership training and development. A djaywunti strategy has been developed, stating that our goals are to:
1. Gather cultural perspectives from workshops, not designed to arrive at a theological destination, but to equip Indigenous leaders for the journey of imparting theological perspectives.
2. Develop Training that is practically based with the right theological elements, to ensure accessible and relevant equipping of Indigenous Christians.
3. Provide relevant resources for Indigenous Christian leaders, that may include, but not be limited to, evangelistic, multi-media and material support.
4. Encourage financial support for Indigenous Christian leaders, because without financial resources it is difficult if not impossible to carry out effective ministry.
In order to achieve this, it is essential wedevelop strong and supportive church partnershipsto ensure sustainable and effective outcomes. We are currently developing promotional resources to inform and recruit supporters. We will also be distributing an E-Stick newsletter to provide updates, prayer points and stories from the field.
